"Just 16 months ago, the voters of New Jersey said NO to government-sponsored embryonic stem cell research.
Unfortunately, [Barack Obama's] action ignores the express will of NJ voters and will make taxpayers complicit in subsidizing
research activities that they do not support," said Marie Tasy, Executive Director of New Jersey Right to Life.
"It is fiscally and morally irresponsible for the federal government to be involved
in the subsidizing of stem cell research that has never produced cures and involves the killing of human embryos," said
Tasy. She urged NJ citizens to contact the White House to express their outrage over Obama's decree forcing taxpayers
to fund human embryo killing, especially since voters here delivered such an overwhelming and resounding rejection of this
unethical and impractical research at the polls.
"Without any proof or evidence
to substantiate the assertion, [Barack] Obama stated that 'the majority of Americans . . . have come to consensus that
we should pursue this research.' Yet if the defeat of a taxpayer-funded embryonic stem cell referendum in New Jersey serves
as any indicator, then the majority of Americans would also surely reject such a measure if given all the facts and the opportunity
to vote on the matter," said Tasy.
