1 God’s Covenant Offer to You
God is Love Because
God is love, He created you to love Him and one another. This is your purpose. (1 John 4:16)
Looking at God’s
love for you, the Bible shares three amazing facts:
Fact
1: All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
Fact 2: The soul who sins
shall die. (Ezekiel 18:4, Romans 6:23)
Fact 3: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not
perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
Jesus sacrificed His life for your sins. By
asking Jesus in your heart, your sins are forgiven and you become a child of God. Have you done this? If not, will you ask
Jesus to come into your heart now? (John 1:12, Romans 5:8)
Let’s look at God’s Covenant.
Jesus’ Blood is God’s Part of His Covenant What is a covenant? A covenant is a permanent agreement
between two persons not to be broken.Jesus’ blood
sacrifice on the cross is God’s part of His Covenant to you. Only Jesus’ blood can cleanse you from your sin.
(1 John 1:7, Hebrews 10:29, Isaiah 53:10)
God Commands Are
in the Bible Your part of God’s covenant is to follow God’s commands. Jesus says, “He who
has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me..." (John 14:21)
2 Your Part of God’s
Covenant - 1: Love God
God’s
covenant has two main parts for you. Let’s look at the first
part.
Love the Lord your God Jesus said, "…you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your
mind, and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30). This means:
With all Your Heart To love God with all
your heart is to love God from the deepest part of you. It means He is your God – you have no other gods before Him, you do not make and serve
idols, you do not take
God’s name in vain, and you follow what God says in the Bible (Exodus 20:3-11, John 14:21)
With all Your Soul Since God created you, He wants to be your affection. You love God with all your soul by desiring
God. This is loving God with all your emotions and obeying Him. It means to love what God loves and to hate what God hates. (Luke 1:46, 1 Peter 1:22)
With
all Your Mind To love
God with all your mind includes all your thoughts and intent. This means to think about God’s laws in the Bible
and doing good works. (Hebrews 10:16, Ephesians 2:1-3)
With all Your Strength God asks for you to love Him with all
your strength - power, ability and might. This means
with all your strength and ability offer your life to God and serve Him not yourself. (1 Peter 4:11)
3 Your
Part of God’s Covenant - 2: Love One Another as Jesus Loved You
Love As Jesus Loved You Jesus also gives you the second part of God’s covenant. Jesus
says:
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
(John 13:34)
Jesus laid down His life for us. This means:
…we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. (1 John 3:16)
Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being. (1 Corinthians 10:24)
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself,
is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice
in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
…whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from
him, how does the love of God abide in him? (1 John 3:17)
Walk in Love The love God asks often involves sacrifice. Looking at Jesus, you can see He loves
you perfectly and with joy. He endured the cross to give His life
for you and now is interceding for you. By yielding yourself to God, you can love as Jesus loves you. God loves those who
hate Him. This love God asks is a lifestyle of living. (Romans 5:8, John 3:16, Hebrews 12:2, Ephesians 5:2)
Your Circumcised Heart Confirms Your Covenant As you can see, God’s covenant
requires you to take up your cross and follow Jesus. Taking up your cross is putting to death your evil desires. Circumcising
your heart of sin frees you to follow God. If you ask God for help, the Holy Spirit will put to death these evil desires.
(Romans 8:13, Colossians 2:11)
4 Make Your Covenant With God
Jesus
has shown you what it means to follow God. Will you now make this covenant with God?

all my heart, with all my soul, with all my mind, and with all my strength.
I love one another as Jesus has loved me.To follow You, I offer my life to You and I will read and do what You say in the Holy Bible.
I ask You to give me the Holy Spirit and to help me follow You.
